Bowdoin’s website says that homeschool applicants must take the ACT test or SAT test with two or more SAT Subject Test. Does this also apply to public online school students. Keep in mind that being homeschooled is different from going to an online public school. In homeschooling, your parents teach you. In an online school system, it is like a traditional school except everything is online(include online teachers). In other words, Bowdoin is SAT/ACT optional, however, this is not the case for homeschooled students. I want to know if homeschool admission requirements applies to students who are in an online school system.

I would contact admissions directly and ask them.

I am an entering freshman to Bowdoin, and I went to my state public online charter school. I applied just like a regular student (no extra testing, etc.). I did submit my ACT, but that was my own decision, not required. I think you should be fine if you apply as a brick-and-mortar student. Good luck! :)

On-line public school is not homeschool. Your application may be strengthened by taking some subject matter test, but I don’t think it is required for your application at Bowdoin. Call the Admissions Office and ask. Even if you are not required to take those standardized tests, you may want to if you adequately prepare. Best of luck!
