Does Brown have broadcast journalism, communications, any of that sort? not a masters, but just a BA…i checked the site, but couldn’t find it, anyone?

The Department of Modern Culture & Media at Brown University

I believe the Modern Culture and Media dept. is the closest thing we have to do. I talked to a guy once who was concentrating in it who said that were he at a different school he'd be doing "Journalism/Communications" because it was basicallly equivalent.

thanks a lot!

No, Brown doesn't have a journalism/communications degree like Northwestern, for example. MCM is really not the department to consider if your goal is to go into journalism, broadcasting or PR. MCM is more like film studies, and it's a more theoretical department -- there is video production, but not really broadcast journalism. I'd look at MCM very carefully, sit in on some classes, to see if it meets your needs. There are some journalism writing classes in the literary arts department. And there is a daily newspaper and a radio station.

WBRU is your best choice if you want to get into broadcast journalism at Brown. Quite a bit of talent has been started there, and it's rather unique in its resources as a college radio station.

That being said, Brown has nearly no preprofessional programs at all (Community Health and Engineering being the two major exceptions, though Community Health would be made if they knew I said that).
