Does $ buy happiness?

I can decide that money makes me happy.

To a very small degree. I just want enough to be able to do a decent amount of traveling and not feel crunched for money.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it helps.

The original question:

“Not necessarily guarantee, but is there a strong correlation”?

Is there a STRONG CORRELATION?

Absolutely.

Question Answered. Absurd topic needs no further discussion.

Actually, I believe that a study on the correlation between money and happiness was done. It turned out that:
From a very low income to a middle income, money strongly correlated with happiness BUT

From a middle income to a high income, there was almost no correlation

Rationale being that not having enough money to get the essentials of life (like a widescreen TV, etc. ) makes one unhappy, but having excess money does not help.

It might not, but I’d love to have a chance to test the theory.

i agree with what a lot of other people are saying. money can def make someone happy, especially in the short term, but overall, in the long term, it’s no substitute for other things (good job, family, etc).

no, money should not have to buy happiness but…

the person who said that obviously never owned a horse, lol!

after not having a horse, money definatly buys happines, but only if that is what your looking for. Friends and love cannot be bought. =)

I know a wealthy person, a physician, who is just now starting to realize that to really really enjoy your job is what’s most important, not how much money you make. He did go into medicine out of a drive to make a difference, but now it’s a chore even though he’s still very skillful.

Still, his family is glad he made the sacrifice. Having money cuts down on a certain amount of anxiety.

Yes money makes you happier. I went from being dirt poor to wealthy in less then a year and I can definitely tell you that having money brought my joy to my life then living pay check to pay check.

I have less anxiety because I don’t have to worry about bills or budgeting. I can buy what I want when I want, go out when I want, and pay people to do things that I don’t enjoy. Money has brought a lot of control to my life over my options as far as schooling, housing, and activities. I can enjoy life more since I can afford the luxuries that make my life worth living.

I would have never attended college if it wasn’t for the fact that I am rich now. I also would have never been able to try new activities and gain new hobbies.

There is so many options in life. I can’t imagine people getting bored and having this short term happiness everyone speaks of.

Money can buy happiness, not literally.

Yes, up until food, water, shelter, etc. needs are satisfied. After that point, money buys comfort only (and comfort contributes almost nothing to long-term happiness).

lol

I’d say money makes it easier to be happy, not necessarily buys it directly.
