Does cal poly rescind?

I got into cal poly SLO for business, with a 3.8 GPA and 1890/2400 SAT.

I’m playing lacrosse, and since it’s my last year playing competitive sports I want to give it my all. My grades are slipping a bit, and I’m just wondering if I could lose admission.

What is the cutoff for rescinded admissions at SLO?

You should be fine unless you get all C’s or something. They say you need to keep up your recorded GPA and get all grades above C’s. If you get a 3.5 or higher you will be fine I think.

On a side note, haven’t you always given it your all playing lacrosse? What could you be doing that is so different this year that causes your grades to “slip”?

You just have to pass each class with a C or higher and youre in!

Cal Poly will resind your admissions if your grades drop below your current gpa…I know this for a fact

to ibossonallyou: You already were notified that you are accepted at Cal Poly SLO? I am still waiting. When did you hear. It is definitely nerve racking to wait this long.

Toscani, you are saying that if you got straight A’s last semester and you get one B they will kick you out? that doesn’t make any sense…i should have just slacked off and got all B’s first semester?

No way! I have friends who got in last year, and they went from all A’s to all B’s and they got in just fine, no problems, no rescind…

As long as you don’t get a C or lower, your fine.
They don’t care about your GPA for the most part, just over 3.0.

You’re fine even with C’s. Just don’t let any grades for courses you listed as “planned” drop lower than a C.

My son let his Physics and Calc grades drop to D’s with just 3 weeks left in his senior year. He got them up to C and B- and he was good to go for Cal Poly. Whew!

My friend got into business, but I think he got a D in Calculus last term (we’re on a full block schedule). He also has Stats this term, and I think he’s trying to set up some independent study to make up the Calc grade. Think he’ll pull that off? If not, would CP ever let it slide considering that he’s taking two years of math just this year?

pass your classes and you will be fine. but let me tell you as a college lax player, your hs ball will be baby games compared to cp lax. do your best but dont over do it and completely forget about your grades

Thanks for the help.
To the college lax bro: I’ve been injured most of career, and I’m not very athletic. Not gonna play in college, just some intramurals.

I’ll let everyone know if I get rescinded, hopefully not cuz my backup is Oregon and I hate cold weather

I heard 2-3 weeks ago online, and got a letter in the mail last week

college lax is way worth it. play. dont let it go dude, honor the game.
check and play dude. go for it

[Terms and Conditions -Admissions- Cal Poly](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

The terms and conditions for selected students (freshmen and Transfer)

Hope this clears up the confusion.

i’m still kinda confused…
Basically if i go from a 3.8W to a 3.6W with all classes passed with B’s or A’s am i still good?

Yeah your fine. As long as your GPA doesnt drop below 3.0 and you don’t get anything lower than a C, your good to go.

if you are trying to figure out if you’re a candidate for rescission, go to the portal and chk application status. it’ll say your file’s been referred to administrative review. good luck! this assumes that cal poly is aware of your situation (i.e. did you send in 7th semester transcript?). it’s suggested you do so so you know now rather than in july.

As long as your unweighted semester GPA is 2.0 or better you probably won’t be rescinded. My son’s friend was rescinded last year because he got an F in AP Spanish Lit. taking his unweighted semester GPA below 2.0. They told him if his GPA would have been above 2.0 he would not have been rescinded. Oh and btw he got a 3 on the Spanish Lit AP test, but they didn’t care about that.

^^^^^Even if it’s a D or F?
