Does CAS admit by major?

and are the major choices binding?

probably not, especially considering the relative flexibility when it comes to choosing a major once a person is already in cas.

I think major has some influence but not all (in addition they’d probably take a look at your ECs and such…if you’re a girl trying to take advantage of the lack-of-girls-in-science thing but have zero demonstrated interest in science, they’ll probably guess you’re really aiming for polisci, english, etc…)

And it’s definitely not binding. It doesn’t even count as a declaration of your major (you still have to formally declare after a semester or so at Penn)

The College does not admit by major; however, if you decide to put down a prospective major on your application and show on your application that you’re serious about that particular major, the admissions folks might look favorably upon that. That said, half of admitted students applied undeclared. And ALL freshmen matriculate undeclared.
