Does CMU want midyear grades?

Do they specifically request them from anyone? I would really prefer not sending mine... :/

I don’t want to send mine either but I am sending mine on Wednesday. Some one told me on fb or cc (I can’t remember which) that she never sent hers in and they never said anything

Haha, that was me. I never sent mine in and I’m a thriving freshman. My grades were good, it just never occurred to me to send them in until it was after the deadline, so I was like, “eh, I’ll wait until they bug me about it.” But they never did.

Does anyone know when they send out decisions?

Some colleges don’t want your transcripts unless they ask for them (GA Tech). But if they wanted your transcript through Junior year, they want your mid year transcript too. Also, the college you decide to attend will want your final senior year transcript too.

completelykate: I’m not surprised, but I wouldn’t risk it.

Note that some high schools automatically send mid year transcripts if you had them send transcripts in the fall!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating you skip sending your midyear report! I don’t know how I never got asked for mine (I’m certain my counselor didn’t send it-- my high school is 3600 strong and there’s a policy that if you want to get to college, you take care of your own paperwork) but I wouldn’t risk doing the same.

completelykate: As I said, I’m not surprised they missed your mid-year, but are you sure you didn’t send a final?
That surprises me.

dreamupsided0wn, I know what you’re hoping for, but on the CMU website, it says “Midyear Grade Report - due March 1st.”

AVHS, I never sent in my final report or my midyear report. I have the attention span of a mentally damaged chipmunk, and it just never occurred to me to send anything in since CMU wasn’t asking for it. But I completely pin it on sheer luck and the gods smiling on me.

I did send in my mid-year report, and it showed up on my status - so I would assume that it is a requirement. but from posts above, I would say if you do pretty well in school all along, you will be accepted w/o the report

CKate:
S’s school (without him specifically requesting it) uploaded his midyear report to the common app site and all of the schools he applied to downloaded it. I expect they will do the same with the final.

Perhaps that happened to you, and you didn’t realize it.

It didn’t show up on my common app or CMU online information-- I remember checking both of those about some financial aid info later and not seeing anything about my grade reports. But you’re right, they could’ve somehow ninja’d it in behind my back. I still definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone else intentionally trying it.

My “Where am i” already said “Application Complete” when I sent mine in, but now it has “Midyear report” over that as well. I figured they required it because the CMU web page that shows all the forms you can download as PDFs also lists the Midyear Report form.
