Let's say I am a co-founder of a big website(top search for something). Thinking about it myself, founder sounds great while co-founder gives me less impression.

Does being a co-founder rather than a founder of a big website make my college application less impressive. (I mean of course, but by how much)

Take the place of an Admissions dean:

1) How impressive does being a co-founder of a big website seem to you? Along with extracurriculars related to web designing.

2) Does it sound more impressive saying "a founder of" or "co-founder" or "1 or two founders of" or any other ideas?

You could always pull a Zuckerberg and take all the credit for the website, then settle the lawsuits brought by your co-founder later. ; )

Steve Job is the co-founder of Apple and no one gives two flying f***s that he didn’t do it by himself.

Say co-founder. It shows that you’re willing to share credit, that you work as a teammate.

Just curious, but what website are you talking about? I have a website I plan on putting on my college app too. PM me if you don’t want to publicize your website!

Cofounder is impressive on it’s own. The ability to work with others, do pair programming and other group work is considered valuable today. Don’t let your ego get in the way. And never lie on an application.

If the other cofounder is a parent or another professional adult it will mean much less. If you founded this with a peer, no problem.

Well lets also say we both apply to the same college. Let’s also say his EC has something major like playing football throughout his life. Won’t that college just take his/her app and throw mine away since we both did the same thing except he/she also dedicated to another big thing?

Always always tell the truth! As long as you can demonstrate that you had input into the site and you did a lot of work on it, then your fine. The only problem I can see would be if you were merely attaching your name to a project you did little work for.
