I’ve always been kinda interested in computer science. I wanted to Computer Game Design next year in high school to see if it’s something I would like to study in college. I’m wondering if this would give me a good introduction to computer science and give me a good idea if it’s something i’d enjoy. If not, I could AP Computer Science Principles, but if I did that, I would have to drop AP Calculus BC, which I wanted to take. What do you think, should I take AP CSP or is Computer Game Design enough?
Game Design will use a very specific part of CS but given that the alternative is to miss Calculus BC, it should serve okay. I would say that it could act as a good indicator but that if you did not enjoy game design to not fully write off CS generally.
