To the TS: yes, they do admit students who are not in the top 1/2. I’m one of the living proofs of that lol

IDK what my rank was but I got in with a sub 3.5 UW so fit really matters, particularly to the smaller schools within Cornell

my advisor in HS told me i was between rank 300-400 in HS out of 670. i still got in

My rank was 50/530 and I had a 1790 sat. I got offered a guaranteed transfer. SAT scores and rank aren’t everything, if Cornell is your dream school then go for it!!!

Rank really doesn’t matter to Cornell admissions.

this is sooooooooo reassuring

okay so I’m a Hispanic girl from a relatively competitive high school in NJ (just as far as numbers are concerned, someone in my class is going to Standford, Yale, Brown, and Princeton, 4 got into Cornell, and about 6 got into Columbia), but I just want to let you know that my rank is extremely low for Cornell’s standards–I’m in about the 25th percentile–and I was just accepted yesterday. My WEIGHTED!! GPA is about a 3.85 (unweighted is in the 3.7 range), and my SAT score was a 2170. I do have substantial volunteerwork/extracurriculars, though. I’m not a typical “fit” for the school by any stretch, but I’m just a case that you really never know!

just like everyone else here, i’m no where near valedictorian status. i’m 24/105…and I second the whole notion of my classmates taking easy electives (fashion marketing anyone? history through the media?) just to boost their GPA. nonetheless, I got in via likely letter…with an SAT score just shy of 2000. Anything is possible!
