Does Cornell look at Writing score?

I have seen that it does and that it doesn't. Does it? (Please do not post unless you KNOW)

when i visited, they said they DO NOT look at the writing section because they had two applicants with the same exact essay score and MC score, except one got a 690, the other an 800. Therefore, they said they find it unreliable and do not look at it.

^how is that possible?

^diferent tests?

Thanks a lot. Not that it helps me now, but was curious because my writing was lowest by 60 points. 1550/1600 looks a lot better than 2240/2400.

berg: you’re either lying or you misheard information. getting the same essay score + MC with one getting a 690 and the other an 800 IS IMPOSSIBLE. yes, curves are always different but a 110 pt difference? IMPOSSIBLE.

I can see this thread is going to digress. Thanks for the answer.

I declare this thread OPEN for arguments about scores and curves!

690 and 800 LOL

Not at all, I received a 12 on my essay while my comprehensive writing score was by far lower than a perfect 800. I’ve seen many others in the situation as I am in and have even seen the opposite side of it where people receives high comprehensive writing scores with essay scores that are as low as 8’s.

by “comprehensive score” i’m assuming you mean your scaled score… the writing score is based on your grammar + your essay not just your essay. obviously it’s possible to get a high writing score w/o an amazing essay and vice versa but he is saying that they had the exact same on both parts of the writing.

well guess what? there is nothing you can do about it whether or not they look at the score…YOUR DECISION HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE.

well guess what? other people care…BECAUSE THERE WILL BE PEOPLE APPLYING NEXT YEAR. i swear , some of the people on this board are so dense.

^ Lol

10char

wait, so cornell doesnt look at your writing score?!?!

Oh sorry, I didn’t notice the part about having the same MC scores.

In any case, Cornell does not look at your writing score :D.

It sucks that writing is my highest score. :(

writing was my lowest score by 60 points, which is odd because I have a A in English, odd…

gosh, i got 800 on writing…
it sucks it doesnt count at all…
so theres no space for writing down the writing score then?!

Subconsciously they matter. 770/750/600 looks terrible if you ask me. Now, 770/750/760 looks consistent.

not if the writing scores are not reported at all ;)
