<p>to both athletic and non-athletic applicants. It is usually for hooks though.</p>

<p>Why does it matter? Unless you are a heavily recruited athlete or have another hook with pull that is comparable to that of a heavily recruited athlete, you will not get a likely letter. Just wait until April and, on the off chance that you actually get one, a likely letter will be a bonus.</p>

<p>I got a likely letter for A&S. And although I’m a Native American and attended the Engineering Diversity Hosting Weekend, I don’t think I was hooked… Otherwise I’d have gotten into some of the other top 20 schools I applied to…</p>

<p>If I had to venture a guess I’d say 3-5% of admittees get likely letters? Probably around 200-300 total</p>
<p>Actually, a friend of mine from Stuyvesant received a likely letter last year…no hooks that I can think of, unless you want to count being a female engineer (she’s Asian though).</p>

<p>Hmm. I’d have thought it would be at Dartmouth even moreso since it’s in their mission to educate Native Americans. Didn’t help me out there at all…</p>

<p>cornell only sends out a few likely letters a week or two before other decisions are sent out. it is perfectly okay if you dont receive one.</p>
