Thanks everyone, I think you’ve given some good insight on this.

How difficult would it be to switch majors? Would it be possible to switch majors ASAP?

It definitely matters on which school you are enrolled in.

I watched the video and found it interesting and scarey to think that future taxpayers (us) will be paying off the debt of students who made unfortunate financial decisions or just do not want to pay back our government. However if only I knew how the hosts of the video recieved their education. If they went to college then I feel like I wasted my time watcing the video and it was nothing more than a scare tactic.
It was obvious that the video would take the turn to advertise online education and predict that college enrollment will drop. Before college enrollment drop significantly it would make more sense to first see a dramatic decrease in those pursuing education after earning a BA.

yes, it would help… but only if youre able to show strong interest for it in your application…

Can anyone help me? I’ve been wondering about this forever…so happy to have found this thread! Ok, well I want to be a pediatric surgeon someday so I’ll obviously be going to med school, but I want to specify French as my major on my college apps. I love French and I plan to study it in college but switch to a Chem major and just do French as a minor or something. I am afraid to specify Chem because I don’t have the outstanding research experience/volunteering/science SAT IIs that others have and my verbal scores have always been higher on standardized tests. I know I won’t be competitve with other Chem majors so I think French is a better choice. What do you think? Will this increase my chances of admission?

drumwriter22 - if the schools you’re applying to have so many chem majors that you think you’ll get lost in a sea of them, then yes I think it could help.

But if your school has a comparable amount of french majors, then that obviously wouldn’t be a helpful strategy.

Before you commit to declaring french on your application, you should do a little research to find out how difficult it is to drastically change majors at your university of choice.
