does deposit money include in my total expenses covered by fin aid?

I’m joining Washington and lee next fall. I got 61232 for aid and 2000 for work study-equally divided in fall and winter. i just deposited 1000$ on ED. Is this money included in the estimated expenses section or this is extra?

Congratulations on your admission! I know of a student there on a full scholarship and hear he is really enjoying his time there after his first semester.

It is not additional. So yes this money should be applied to your tuition usually. However since you have it covered, it seems to me it would be credited to your student account. However, since you are a low income student it would be okay for you to ask for a waiver or a reduction to the deposit amount. Why don’t you wait for a few other answers here to see if they agree with me, then send an email to the college? I believe many colleges will waive enrollment deposits, especially since it seems like they are covering nearly all of your costs. Or maybe they will take a smaller one.

I agree with @BrownParent‌!

@Saimon already deposited the $1000. So…if he/she asks for a waiver would that seem odd?

It would be odd the request a waiver. The school isn’t going to give the student the money back at this point. It will likely just remain as a credit on the account for the upcoming school year.
