Does/Did your high school have stupid requirements for graduation?

We have to have 1 year of Phys Ed, and 1 year of a fine art, like art or drama, to graduate, and two years of a foreign language.

They only offer two languages, Spanish and Italian, and 95% of my school is Hispanic, being bilingual since we could talk, so I find that kind of useless.

They are THINKING about adding French ._.

^Dooooooooooooooooooo itttttttttttttttttttttt

4 semesters of PE (not that bad) and 1 semester of Health. That’s pretty much it.

I love PE. I don’t understand why people hate it.

4 years of Engrish
3 years of Math (I’ll have 5-6)
3 years of Science (I’ll have 7-8)
1.5 years of Art
1 year of Technology
2 years of PE
3 years of Social Studies

“I love PE. I don’t understand why people hate it.”

Because it’s a joke and a waste of time. There are classes I could be taking instead which would actually be useful, and look better on a transcript.

Yeah, 3 semesters of physical ed and 2 semesters of art. I, myself, love art, but I think it’s ridiculous having to hear all the math/science nerds ***** about how much a joke the class is while I’m trying to draw stuff lol.

I’m in IB which pretty much requires a ton of stuff to somehow cram into your schedule.

In addition to all the core classes, my COUNTY requires an extra year of history for some reason. Also, we need a year of career development, which in my school basically means you either have to work at the cafeteria or be a teacher’s assistant, which is a complete waste of time. Hopefully they waive that requirement for people in Academic Decathlon, which is what my teacher is trying to do, but I worry about my fellow IBers that don’t have Decathlon.

^^3 semesters? Don’t complain.
We have to complete 11/12 seasons of PE or a sport, which you can’t do during the school day, so you must waste your time at school until 5pm three times a week doing something pointless. One trimester off senior year is all you get during all of high school.

I like how many responses this thread has gotten… :D

Lol, you kidding me? Starting a thread for people to complain is bound to be gold.

I have to take PE and pass a test. I can’t pass the test.

What if you self-study during that period? :)

Lol. So true.

Haha guess so.

So my schools pretty decent right. Except when it comes to graduation requirements. A 6 Page research analysis paper on a topic that somewhat relates to our world. Community service relating to that paper. and finally a civic action presentation

We have quite a bit.
4 years of math
4 years of english
4 years of history
4 years of science
2 years of foreign language
2 years of arts
1 year of PE
1 year of Hawaiian Studies (So ■■■■■■■■)
1 year of Guidance/Health
+
Senior Project (research, essay, and presentation on something affecting our community)

It’s so f***** great that class of 2013 was the first class in which the senior project became mandatory.
Btw that was sarcasm.

my school’s pretty lenient on the graduation requirements. nonetheless my school has one of the lowest graduation to senior ratio in the district/county.

i disliked health, but i was lucky enough to take it as a summer school class as my district cut summer school due to budget cuts.

my school requires a schedule with 5 classes. i took 7 classes in one semester, therefore i have a surplus of credits. it sucks taking unnecessary classes just to fill up a schedule.

6 semesters of gym. And if you take drivers ed privately, 7 semesters of gym. Ughhhh

4 years English
3 years Math (one has to be Geometry)
2 years Science
2 years Social Studies (One has to be US History)
.5 year Health
.5 year Consumer Education
1 elective (Spanish, Art, Home Ec, Industrial Tech, etc)

and get this, 4 years Physical Education. I don’t what rational person would say that kickball is more important that science, math, and social studies. No wonder all those European and Asian countries are dominating us on those tests.
