I was wondering which dorms would be the closest and nicest to sorority row? Also has anyone thought of starting a acceptance thread?
The closest dorms to the sorority houses are the east side dorms: Jennie Murphree, Reynolds, Gilchrist, Bryan, Cawthon, Broward and Landis.
The new Dorman and Deviney buildings are meal plan optional.
@Pasbal are any of the dormsnesar sorority row like diveny - new?? suite style
It depends what sorority you end up in. My daughter lives in Deviney and is a short walk to her house. If you are going through sorority recruitment, hold off on the meal plan!
With the exception of Smith and Salley, all the dorms available to freshmen are suite style. Dorman and Deviney are the newest dorms, followed by Wildwood and Degraff. What sorority you join will determine how far the dorms are to your house.
I don’t advise getting a meal plan anyway, so if you plan on rushing I would definitely say to hold off. It’ll be a complete waste of your money. Just be careful to get a dorm that doesn’t require a meal plan.
Some dorms at FSU require a meal plan though. This info is online. You must purchase it, but if you rush and pledge, you will just need to bring in proof and they will allow you to downgrade your plan and get a refund for the difference. To avoid this altogether, you can select a dorm that does not require a meal plan.
As far as location, pull up an FSU campus map and you’ll see what some dorms are closest to sorority houses. However, that won’t help too much since you have no idea which one you’ll get into. Of the newest dorms, I believe Deviney would be the closest to any. Consider bringing a bike or relying on the bus. It’s all manageable.
