I am confused. Reading online, some say Drexel gives out scholarship money based on financial need and academic achievement, while others are say Drexel gives out very little help to students. I have used the freshman financial aid calculator on Drexel's website and it says I'd get about $20,00 in scholarships (not including loans). Is their calculator a reflection of what they really offer the students, or just a way of inticing potential students?

I'm a single parent. My daugher, now a HS junior, has her heart set on Drexel. We live in Philly, so commuting will certainly help with the price, but tuition is really steep. Here is my circumstances, so please let me know what you think from your past experiences.

ok, another questio:
When the financial packet is offered, is it for Freshman year only, or for the entire 5
years?

So, can any of you offer any help from your own personal experience? I cannot afford Drexel's tuition if I don't get a decent discount. What do you think of our chances?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Hi, I guess I’m not the most suited person to answer since I’m an international student, but after reading few topics I got some ideas.

So i got accepted into business and engineering major and i received merit based scholarship.

Usually if you have medium-high stats, your GPA is nice, if you can it would be great to improve a little the SAT, you can receive between 13000 and 22000 merit based scholarships.

I have read somewhere that a parent with 70000 salary didn’t receive any financial aid.
Some people say that Drexel is giving out a lot of merit based scholarships because they want to attract good students and this causes less financial aid available.

Here’s my advice - Visit and apply. It’s a free application when you visit. Drexel is not at all transparent about their merit aid so you should not count on it. I know students that got aid from $10,000 to $35,000, all merit. I’ve found it best to have the kids apply to at least 6 schools, aiming for mostly match and safety schools and then see what happens. If you need merit aid, your daughters stats should be higher then the average accepted student.

Great news! Drexel does give merit based scholarships. Of course you need the proper grades in order to obtain them but they are well within reach if you just work hard. If lady luck doesn’t smile in your favor there are many other ways to obtain scholarship money such as essay contests and competitions.

There are websites which contains information about many various scholarships ranging from merit based scholarships to essay contest scholarships. Simply google “scholarship opportunities” You can choose to do one, you can choose to do all of them. All you can do is increase your chances of getting some money towards our terrific University.

Best of luck in all your future endeavors,
