Does dropping a year affect the admission process?

Unfortunately, I have missed my high school board exam this year due to illness. As board exams in our country are held once in a year, I need to take it next year. For that reason my academic transcript will also hold a word 'irregular' as type of student.

My question is, will it have a bad impression on my application form for top universities?

Another question, is it recoverable to have a good score in SAT 1 and SAT 2 (math 2 and physics) for good universities, instead of taking board exam? I've good score in my high school exams, class tests(I've only missed the board exam). I might have strong recommendation from my guidance , principal, secondary school head teacher. I've numerous achievements in playing violin, science fair and mathematical and informatics olympiad. I am a international student and I need scholarship.

Thanks in advance.

You need to read through everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.info/) Then you should make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to where you live. They are expert at helping students from your country find good places to study in the US. They will be able to tell you whether or not the “irregular” comment on your school records will affect your chances of admission. They also will be able to tell you whether or not students like you have received the kind of financial aid that you need in order to study here.
