My application was only officially complete a week or two ago... which I think is why I got mine late.

That makes sense. Congrats! Where did you apply early? I feel like I've seen you around here before.

I'm a Harvard EAer, and an (unsuccessfully) recovering CC addict.

hey guys, just wanted to let you know there is still hope for the likely letter...I got one dated February 22, as well. It doesn't say anything about scholarships in the letter though, just in the FAQ sheet they sent along with it. So maybe the later wave is for people who probably won't get invited to the AB Duke program interview? Anyways, I'm just very happy to get one (I'm the "obsessed" friend who ookatneyoo spoke of earlier, I resent that! :p). Congrats to everyone who got letters, and everyone else as well, just being an applicant to Duke probably ensures that you're an incredible student. Come April we'll all be rolling in acceptance letters.

wow.. so relieved. got the letter yesterday.. duke is one of many schools but it's great to know before April 1st that i'm in FOR SURE somewhere..

Duke's a great school, I'm looking forward to visiting...

Btw, I'm from Kansas, good luck to everyone

Why do I keep looking? Did any deferees get likely letters yet? Arggg

To all those who didn't receive likely letters-Relax! I spoke with the GC at my school, and she said that NONE of the 7 kids accepted in the past 5 years had received them. BTW, my S didn't get one either.

hmmm.. still haven't figured out if any pratt applicants have received one.

I wouldn't hold your breath on this one. If you were eligible for one early, you probably would've just been admitted then so they'd know they had you. To defer someone that would potentially be at the top of the applicant pool is something that's just not smart for them to do.

i'm a pratt applicant, and i got one, so yes people in both schools get likelies

I just got one today, Feb 24, so there might be more on the way, does anyone know when people find out about being finalists for the merit scholarships and/or when the weekend is? Thanks

So if we don't get likely letters, we are most likely rejected or what?

^^^not necessarily. if they really do send out only 300 letters, then that's only about 9% of the 3300 RD admits they expect to make. That means that for every person who gets a letter, there are 9 more that didn't but will be accepted. Don't give up yet - I know I haven't! :)

arwesterdale-Notification about being a semifinalist for the Robertson Scholarship came today. I don't know about the other scholarships.

how do we know that only 300 was sent/

well, the letter to our parents said less than 2%, 2% of the applicant pool (18,000) is 360. So I would say 350 is a good approximation. So, of course, if you didn't receive a likely letter you still have a good shot of getting in.

congrats to all who got a likely! and thanks for that stat collegehopeful. i'm hoping i still get in.

any internationals who got likelies?

I second that question.

for the other deferrees (or anyone who knows)... do we include ourselves in these numbers? I mean, the letter said that they admit about ten percent of the people they defer (about 70 spots), so are our chances one in ten or is the number more complicated than that?
