I’m pretty sure that you can be considered, but submitting the supplement is the only way that they will definitely review your app.

Michelle, did your son’s letter address a certain scholarship or did it simply state that he is “likely to be accepted?” (And Congrats!)

The letter mentioned Admissions Committee fully expects to formally offer my son admission later this spring as long as he maintain the academic and personal standards reflected in his app.
Paticularly want to draw his attention to duke unique program for civic engagement, DukeEngate.
Invitation to Blue Devil Days will be sent soon.

That’s all.

I know someone who did not get a Likely Letter who has a 4.7 weighted GPA (4.0 unweighted), perfect test scores on ACT, AP’s and SAT2’s, 2350 on SAT, ranked #2 in class, all-state athlete, musician, won tons of academic awards, and hugely into community service…AND a Duke legacy. When I found out he didn’t get one, I felt very lucky…I’m not nearly as qualified! How do they pass up someone like that? He’s being recruited by Ivy schools. Seems strange to me.

Does anyone know if deffered candidates get a likely letter?

^ Deferred ED applicants normally would not receive likely letters.
