I attended a Duke TIP program after my sophomore year. I have assumed that Duke really grants no weight to attendance at a TIP program. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Also, does Duke consider your selected major in its decisions process? (In other words, if your SAT or ACT scores reflect a strength in a particular area and you have indicated an intent to major in that area, is that fact taken into account?)

yeah I did TIP in 7th grade. I wonder, but I don't know if it makes a difference, or if the adcoms even know you went.

Someone from duke once told my friend roughly a fourth of the kids who attend TiP end up going to Duke. This is a pretty undercovered statement though, and doesn't neccessarily mean that there's hook involved.

I doubt it. I have a brother who just took the SAT as a 7th grader and there was some mention in some of the associated literature that I glanced at which said there was no edge in actual admissions. Think I saw a similar message on the Duke admissions website. I am sure that they would interpret the summer program in the same regards as any other comparable summer program.

i don't think so at all; i know a very strong NC resident who attended two TIP-based programs and was rejected ED... i don't even know if i'd consider it a hook.
