Does E2 have a higher acceptance rate than RD?

I wanted to apply EDII if i dont get in ED to Cornell

Hi again! According to the admissions officers at my regional session, it has the same acceptance rate as RD (ED 1 skews the ED rate up) but that’s not reported anywhere officially so I can’t say how true it is.

Hi! Thanks! Yea it’s sketchy. I remember Dartmouth saying ED and RD acceptance rates are equal, but that’s clearly not true.

@collegebobollege wow really?? last month when an admission officer (the NJ one) visited my high school, he said that Vandy does not have a preference for one ED round over the other and that both rounds have similar acceptance rates. could my officer have been wrong? :frowning:

@gray7time huh, that’s strange! Two officers came to my area in august and said ED1 had an acceptance rate in the high 20%s and ED2’s is more similar to the RD rate. The overall ED rate is 22.5%. However, only that last statistic is reported anywhere so they could have been wrong I suppose

One of my kids worked in OUA as a student worker and tour guide. They were told to say both ED rounds were the same, but that child knew from the inner office numbers that they heard that ED1 was definitely the preferred round. ED2 was better than RD. It’s been a few years, but I imagine there’s still some truth to that.

I’m in a similar position…apparently people say ED2 and RD are the same but I don’t know if I believe that
