Especially for Georgetown,
Is there any advantage of applying early other than early notification?

Georgetown does not give out scholarships and guarantees to meet full finanical need. Now, Boston College, that does have some merit awards ONLY gives them to EA applicants. Depends upon the school.

Georgetown does have merit scholarships - they call them “Incentive Scholarships”

<a href=“Georgetown Undergraduate Scholarships | Office of Student Financial Services | Georgetown University”>http://finaid.georgetown.edu/grants-and-scholarships/undergrad-scholarships/

For 2013-2014, the numbers were:

Pat Mc Wade, who is an fin aid office at GTown, outright said they did not. Those might be athletic scholarships. THey have different way than most schools of giving out athletic awards, I seem to remember. I suggest calling the Admissions office directly and asking if financial need is needed for the Incentive scholarships if one is a non athlete.

Georgetown needs to follow NCAA scholarship rules and can’t just hand out ‘special’ scholarships to athletes. It would be a bookkeeping challenge to know which soccer player received $4000 and what percentage of the total allowed for the team was issued. I think their athletic scholarship are handed out just like other schools do it, through NLIs and money in the athletic department.

These look like scholarships for studying in certain areas, for students from different countries, with certain skills or financial needs. It says the grants may replace loans in the total package.
