I'm looking at Rutgers university specifically, but I know early action helps a little with getting into a college. I was wondering if early action would hurt scholarship chances because it seems like you're already interested in the school so they don't have to lure you with $$.

Well I say no … EA does not hurt your chances since there’s no limit to how many schools to which you can apply EA. Thus schools are still motivated to offer up merit dollars to the candidates they want the most. So apply away!

You should be fine as EA isn’t a binding agreement so go for it!

No, EA won’t hurt an FA award. There is some disagreement as to whether that happens with ED. But you will get your FA offers for your EA schools at the same time as RD so you can compare them.

Many schools actually requires EA for scholarship application too. Many school would send out scholarship notice even before RD and leave less money for students admitted in RD.

No, it does not. As Erin’s Dad mentions, there is debate as to whether ED lowers scholarship chances, but not EA.
