Does ED really help THAT much?

I was thinking about applying Early Decision at Brown this year, but I think I could be wasting an ED opportunity since my credentials are somewhat average. Will ED really give me a boost? Here is a short list of my credentials, please tell me if it’s worth it to apply ED at Brown.

SAT I (2250) - M: 720, CR: 770, Wr: 750
SAT II - Math II: 730, US History: 770, Spanish: 700 (RETAKING!!!)
GPA - UW: 4.0, W: 5.25
Class Rank - 3/550ish
Most rigorous course-load at a good public school in South Florida
APs (8 so far): four 4s and four 5s
ECs (not great): 500 volunteer hours, debate, political activism, etc.
Hooks: possible URM (half Hispanic), geographic diversity, income below 100K?
Essays/Recs: Not done yet, but not looking somewhat bleak so far.

If you have time, what do you think about my prospects at HYP, Columbia, Dartmouth, Stanford, Georgetown, Tufts, Duke, NW, etc.?

I know these are all reaches but I would really appreciate the opportunity to study at a top school, especially one that’s far away from this godforsaken swampland.

Thank you for your time.

This thread (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/750395-advantage-early-decision.html</a>) seems to have come to the conclusion that, at Brown, there is minimal difference between ED and RD, if any.

swampland huh? Your chances will be slightly lowered as it seems you have not followed the most rigorous program available to your school/background and have not challenged yourself to test your very limits. If I were an adcom I would have expected at least SOME crocodile wrestling.

Impossible. There are no crocodiles in Florida. Only ALLIGATORS, which prey on A-students with moderately high SAT scores. Now you see the urgency of my situation if I don’t get accepted to one of these schools.

bindo: Your credentials are NOT average. You have stellar SATs, high GPA and strong rank. If you are truly half Hispanic, that means you have a hook, which would help you ED. However, being from Florida is not a geographic hook. There are tons of applicants from Florida.

ok thank you

ED won’t help that much because there are a lot of qualified candidate that are applying.
