As said. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, it’s really hard to know, particularly for selective schools where the numbers you’re looking at are so low.

Sorry I can’t help more, but there really is no data either way that I’ve seen. Of course, I would say, being a URM never hurts.

ahhh okay. thanks, entomom. do you also happen to know how half hispanic/half ORM candidates are treated? i’ve read some threads around CC, including yours on ethnicity, but i haven’t been able to find any definitive conclusions about bi-racial kids.

There are no definitive answers.

Please remember that Hispanic is an ethnic, rather than racial identification. You certainly can check the Hispanic box for that question and then whichever race box(es) you feel like for the race question.

If you are part URM, even if you are also part ORM, you will still be considered in the URM pool.

My kids are half Hispanic and racially are Asian and caucasian, they are considered Hispanic. However, if you have read my other posts, you know that there are many factors within the Hispanic category that affect how you are considered by adcoms, see post #2 here:

Again, it’s more difficult to predict how ethnicity and race are considered for transfers since data is not published and there have not been enough cases here on CC to see a trend. Some colleges may do most of their recruitment during fr admissions and look for other qualities (eg. NT) in transfer applicants.

I would also like to know I’m a urm transfer

Sent from my M860 using CC App

thanks, entomom. what does NT mean, by the way?

NT = non-traditional
