Does every accepted applicant have "Congratulations!" written?

Do all acceptance letters have "Congratulations!" written in below Dean Rapelye's signature?

I think so. Mine does.

Yep, mine does too.

I can't determine if that's real or not... I wouldn't think it is, but it really does seem handwritten. I wouldn't want to write that on all those letters. =P

I think they make them handwritten in an effort to personalize them.

you think so? i'd really like to believe that...kind of encouraging, but at the same time, if i let myself believe it, there's that cynical part of myself making fun of my naive side for believing it...cant make up my mind

I actually wet my finger and smudged my congratulations... So, I think it is real. Haha, these things matter to me way too much.

I think Dean Rapelye instituted this as her "trademark," something different from the YES! that began letters from Dean Hargadon, which had become part of student lore.

Congratulations to you!

haha I was thinking about starting this thread, but didn't get to it...mine does too!

yeah, mine says that too, but i think its prolly computerized. besides, do you actually think she would go through 600 acceptance letters and sign and write "Congratulations!" on all of them? Although I'd like to believe so, I doubt it...

They had to read and decide on all those apps (thousands)...why not sign just 600? its all in a day's work for rapelye, probably.

Yeah, if she went at a rate of 20 "Congratulations" per minute, taking a 1-minute break every other minute, she would still finish within an hour. Man this is starting to sound like the SAT math section...

3 seconds per letter is pushing it friendofdarwin...maybe we should give her 2 or 3 hours...

In the Gatekeepers he briefly mentions how at Wesleyan the admissions dean personalizes each application with either "congratulations!' or 'yes!' (I think those were the terms used). It was done by hand. I don't think they were computerized for you guys... they're the real deal!

haha I happen to believe that she is a very efficient worker!

i suppose writing 4 charecters (yes!) is less then writing out "congradulations!" i think that both have the same impact, yes being less formal of course. i think the dean to save her hand should write yes. still, if i get in i dont really care for anything.

i think if some of you got together with your letters, you'd be able to note any differences in the signatures...if there are, we know they're real signatures...either way, the anxiety is over, and all we have to do till enrollment is make sure we keep ok grades...so i dont really care

I don't think it's that big of a deal...

would someone who actually got in ED post what was totally in the letter of acceptance. It would be cool to read the letter. that would be an awesome thing to see!

lol handwriting yes wont really mean much; itll be kind of weird. Just imagine "yes!" under the signature...thats not congratulating you or anything.
