Does every college accept the Common App?

Does every school accept the common app? I searched for a bunch on the website itself, but they weren’t included in the list of schools that do accept it. Someone please elucidate.

Only 255 schools accept the common app. You can see the list on www.commonapp.org. I don't know how to view the list without an account, but if you create an account and go to Applications -> My Colleges, then it's there.

No, but a lot of them do.

So, if the college I was looking at wasn't on the list--I'd have to wait until their applications come out online, right?

Question: Can you write one essay that can be used for all of the colleges that you're applying to. Well, since some schools don't use the common app, I'm sure they have different/skewed essay topics. Right?

IvyleagueORbust - I believe you would have to wait for the individual college's application to be released.

As for your other question, many college essay prompts are similar, so perhaps you could write one essay and tweak it as needed so it fits the other prompts. But I don't think you'll end up writing more than a couple essays at most.

A good book that talks about this is: "Get Into Any College: Secrets of Harvard Students".

Yes you have to wait for the school application to come out.

On the common essay you can write an essay on the topic of your choice. So depending on the essay question that the school that does not take the common app is asking, yes you probably could craft an essay that kills 2 birds with one stone.

Daughter did all of her apps using the common app. However, Amhest has a required essay and Tufts had an optional essay. In addtion, Barnard, Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke had their why this school essay. She wrote one essay for the common app, and wrote her Amherst essay in a way that it also fir the requirements for the optional second essay for Tufts, and a third essay that she could use to fit the why this school category with jsut a few revisions.

do you think non-common app colleges will accept the common app teacher evaluation form since they basically will contain the same thing, it would seem easier to do that than to give my teachers 7 or 8 forms to fill out.

The colleges that do accept the common app sometimes have an additional supplement that needs to be completed, especially the extremely selective schools. For example, additional essays may be required.
