Does every Ivy League Applicant Look Like This?

I just read the first page of this Princeton Chance Thread...and I'm slightly discouraged!

Does every Ivy League applicant's resume look like this? Do I even have a chance at an Ivy at all if my resume doesn't look like this?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/578194-so-i-m-definitely.html

P.S. Dbate, if you read this, congratulations on your highschool success. I think you have an amazing shot at your schools. I hope to see you at one of them someday!!

Do you really need to ask?

Absolutely not. That is the stereotypical CCer…not the typical applicant (even at an Ivy).

Can anyone share (from experience or otherwise) what the average ivy league applicant does look like? I would really like to know this!

Much appreciation!

There is no such thing as an “average” ivy applicant

^ lol…true!

honestly, kid’s app isn’t that great other than his research/extracurriculars. his sats are subpar and, as a result, i’m guessing his gpa isn’t a big deal.

unless you cure cancer or win a gold metal in the olympics, extra curriculars aren’t going to get you in if you’re academically weak.

i guess AA will help him though.

That is not even human . . .

I dont see what you guys think is so jaw-dropping about that guy. Great chances, but its typical generally

I don’t get what is so special about him either. His SAT sint that great and grades are average. he just did a really cool science fair project. His resume just looks really long, don’t be intimidated.

^ 34 ACT for URM is very good…

But I do think it’s odd that he presents himself as some quantum mechanics super genius, but has a 650 on SAT 1 Math.

dont see whats so special…no big national/intl awards to validate his work.
good chances primarily because of urm status.

Well, somewhere in his threads he explains he did his research in his house, and had it published in an amateur science magazine, which will not hold much clout. (And it could be a type of vanity publisher.)

However,as ChoklitRain states, his 34 ACT with URM should be plenty for admission.

Sorry, but I sense some jealousy in this thread. So what if this kid doesn’t win Intel? He has demonstrated sincere interest in a very complex field and didn’t do the whole “This will look good on my resume” thing like most people on here do. On top of that, he’s a URM. I think he’ll be flooded with acceptances come April.

I’m a URM with over a 2100 but i don’t consider myself to exceptional. There are ton’s of URM’s with over a 2100. Think kid is exceptional but i think the OP could have picked someone a little more exceptional.

There isn’t.

this guy is way more ridiculous

scroll down to “red remote”
