I'm researching some universities, and whenever I see reviews on the food it always sucks. I'm not going to a place with bad food or expensive food. At my high school the food is ridiculously expensive. So is this at all colleges or some. So far, from what i've seen. State schools have bad food, private schools have great food.

There are some public schools known for having great food, Virginia Tech for one.

University of Richmond has great food

I wouldn’t assume the quality of food based on private/public. The food at Ithaca College, for me, was pretty bad and repetitive, while the food at the state school I’m attending next year is comparatively much better, with more variety.

This might depend on how much you like food and how picky you are. Every ranking of school dining I’ve seen has UCLA really high, usually #2 behind Cornell if you take out tiny LAC’s. I think the food here is generally mediocre though, even if it’s better than other schools at which I’ve eaten.

I like the food at my school. It’s nothing to write home about but it isn’t bad at all. I am EXTREMELY picky and I manage. (I recently ate my first carrot. Seriously.) I have eaten at three colleges, and one was awesome, one was good (my school), and one totally sucks and gives me food poisoning (my fiance’s school. yuck.).

Cornell has great food :D

Supposedly UCLA has good food from what I’ve heard

WashU was ranked #8 in best food by PR last year. That’s good enough for me :D

The food at my two state universities is fantastic. We have like a food court that is all you can eat. Multiple stations with like Salads, Soups, Pasta, Soul Food, Sandwiches, etc.

Princeton has good food, I think. But then again, I don’t have a very discriminating palate.

It honestly comes down to the individual. Person B, who likes to eat slop (from person A’s perspective) can’t really be trusted when giving an evaluation on food. You won’t know what you like until you physically eat somewhere as opposed to reading rankings or listening to hearsay. Bob might like caviar everyday, but Sue doesn’t think that’s so hawt.

I would have to agree with hyperJulie… I applied to both SUNY schools (Plattsburgh and Oswego) and Ithaca, visited all three, and the food tended to be better at Plattsburgh and Oswego than at Ithaca. Plattsburgh especially has a lot of good options I have found (one of the many reasons why I’m going there this year… doesn’t hurt that it’s about 30k cheaper than Ithaca too when all is said and done).

I love the food at Michigan State. We have one cafeteria that is just amazing. And I’m a very picky vegetarian.

Do you mean you have one cafeteria which is amazing or one cafeteria among several that is amazing?

I am not doubting the amazingness of your food, I would just be surprised if there is only one cafeteria there and am not sure which you meant. o.O

James Madison University is also a state school that has good campus food… I think ranked #3 by the Princeton Review… I have eaten sushi from campus dining… it is good.

^^Oh haha, no I just meant there is one in particular that is extra amazing :p.

One among several.

Each one has their own unique awesomeness. Like the one with the free icee machine… lmao

Jmu! Jmu! Jmu!

Bowdoin, Cornell, all schools with great food.

Not at all. High Point University has AMAZINGGG food. and East Carolina’s is good, too. I visited both. My cousin goes to Coastal Carolina and I ate there when I stayed over in her dorm. It was alright. Not great but it was decent.
