But it simply doesn't make sense. Brown isn't even done uploading all of students' applications!! (i.e. recs, etc) so how would they make a "first cut?" I really doubt that Brown's adcom is a malicious group of people who spend overtime hours deciding who gets interviews. But believe what you want ... Whatever stirs your free trade coffee. :)

I can't be true, because at the time I was contacted, I had only sent in Part I of the application.

People, you are denying this claim simply because you do not want it to be true...and it isn't. You need not worry, EVERY single kid who applied from my senior class had an interview scheduled or has one scheduled, meaning all 12 people, and believe me, only half are qualified as far as SAT, GPA, extra-cirrics alone go...I don't think that 10 of the 12 will be accepted. Also, I recently scheduled my interview with some Daniel guy for this saturday, and he said on the phone "this interview is basically non consequential, nor does it mean anything. It's for me to put a check next to your name to make sure I met up with you and for you to inquire about anything concerning college life on the Brown campus." Not to mention, I have NO extra currics, a mid 1200 SAT, B+ GPA...so do I really have a 90% chance? No. Besides, on the actual Brown site it says Brown meets with approx. with 70% of all applicants and we all know that 63% of applicants don't get accepted...

ok, i was kidding, rather experimenting, i wanted to see how many people would be outraged, not believe, believe, etc, and it looks like there were a few in each category, just look back on this thread and laugh about how funny applying to colleges can be, "hahahah" say to yourself, "that psquared is such a kidder, he got me", ahhhh the joy of college admissions

What a surprise! You need to look to get your jollies elsewhere. The claim didn't work for me, but you actually got some of these guys thinking. As desperate as your act may have been, I'm still a little puzzled as to why so many of you refuted this so vehemently...you guys are Brown prospects...this wasn't even a hard claim to discern too...

Just called for an interview a few hours ago...

I am an alumna who interviews. Yes, if there is a Brown Club near you, all attempt is made to give you an interview. You would not get an interview if the club is not large enough to handle the amount of applicants in the area, or if there is no club in the area. Getting an interview does not mean that you have or have not made the first cut.

hahahaha... okay, i laughed psquared...
if i applied RD what is the latest i can hear if i get an interview?

How do we find out if there is a Brown Club in our area?

go to this website

(there are a lot in florida)

you have to have an interview to get into the college?????

You don't need one. They offer them to as many applicants as possible though.

Does Brown call applicants for interview - someone called me today from Brown and said shes calling about my application - she didnt mention interview - anyone got idea what it could be? I tried to call back but it sounds like busy line or phone is off

I applied a few weeks ago regular decision. Should I email someone at Brown and try to pursue an interview, or just hang tight and wait for them to contact me. By the way, I'm in Florida, so I guess I won't be having any problems with lack of interviewers.

you'll probably be contacted if you hang tight, but it couldn't hurt to call and ask what the situation is

aw man, there isn't a club in the entire state. no interview for me then.

by the way, just wondering.. if you know your interviewer or if your interviewer knows you, aren't they supposed to decline the opportunity to interview you? i know ths one person who is an interviewer and that's what he said.... i could be waaay off...
