Does Everyone Have a True Safety?

I thought I had some reaches but apparently not.. I have been accepted to 5 schools and I only have 3 to go..

Tulane University
University of Oklahoma (resident)
University of Texas (resident)
Texas A&M University(resident)
University of Texas El Paso (full ride)

Only need ..
University of Maryland College Park
St. John's
International University of Bremen..

I should have applied to Georgetown... but I don't want to take SAT IIs...
oh well!

I got into Harvard EA, so no safeties for me.

Is that St. John's College, ice_sickle007? If so, GL! I love that school to pieces... they don't offer need-based aid and I highly doubt I'll get any. I've had a few months to get over it (I was accepted in July) so even though it still hurts to know I won't be able to attend St. John's, it's also lessend with time so I can focus on the schools that I can possibly go to.

I'm an odd case; the majority of my schools are safeties g When it came down to it, I was looking more for whether I could really envision myself at that school, if I'd not only like to be there, but LOVE to be there, and more for fit than prestige and it ended up that most of the schools I liked the most ended up being safeties for me. Go figure. XD

Safeties:
UC Berk
UCLA
UCSD
Carnegie Mellon
NYU

Reaches/Matches:
Cornell
Wharton
Stanford
U Chicago
Columbia

I hate you all. Hey Roger, we need a place for non overachievers to post.

I only applied to one school, but I knew I would be in the top 2-3% of applicants so I never even thought about having a safety. When I asked my counselor if I needed to worry at all, she just laughed.

I've gotten into Tulane, but my financial safety is UCentral Florida and maybe UF.

DePauw might be a good choice for some, since it usually meets 100% of need and has merit aid.

Based on another parent's advice my dd has only first choices - they range from admission saftey to reach, but all are schools she would like to attend.
What we can afford...thats another story. just have to wait and see.

fordham
holy cross
eckerd
st. mary's college MD
st. michael's VT
Dickinson
Rutgers - in state
William Paterson - in state, accepted, presidential scholarship

haha backfire, umich was my safety as well. its bad to call it a safety but i had no doubt i was going to be admitted and now i'm 99.99% sure i'm going to attend and 100% sure i'm gonna be happy there.

My safety is VaTech, but I would be really, really, really, really upset if I had to go there.
So...probably a bad choice! haha.
I'm pretty sure I'll get into William and Mary (I hope I'm not being too cocky...), which wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to go there.

Everyone has a safety. It's called community college, or schools with open admission.

...
Community college.
....

....

I would die.

UCSB and UCSD.

I got into Ohio State's Honors Program as my safety. I also consider Case a safety, though some may not...

Yes, several safeties, and two are first choices which makes it nice.

haha, I have more safeties than anything.

My safeties: udayton (IN w/ $$), uscranton (IN w/$$), Indiana U of PA (IN w/ $$), st louis u (applied for full tuition), and xavier u (applied for a full ride).

5 very safe safeties. thats good.

then american and u south carolina are safe-matches, both which will definitely come with $$

and then my reaches: UNC-Chapel Hill (IN already), UVA, Notre Dame, Penn, Cornell, and Vanderbilt.

i like my list. :-)

No sorry I was talking about St. John's University ... it seems really easy to get into..

Three extreme safeties-
Emory&Henry - 13K
Randolph - 13K
VCU - not sure yet
Two others-
UVA
William and Mary

but I rather go to the other 5 schools I have applied to.

I'm starting to worry if I can honestly call UCDavis + UC Irvine my safety.... :(
My safety choices are extremely limited because almost all private colleges/universities require a counselor's recommendation. I don't like any of the state colleges (CSUs) and the community colleges.
I guess all I can do now is to pray and wait till march comes around..
