Does everyone have their popcorn ready for Harry & Meghan?

The PDA doesn’t seem forced to me but what do I know. The Queen is gone and she was probably more of a stickler for not showing the PDA stuff? I thought it was strange for Harry to imply negative things about the marriages of other royal members of the family. I doubt that Harry and Meghan are the first in the family to ever have been truly in love!

I think contrived would have been a better word to describe how I view them now with the PDA. Of course, H&M aren’t the only ones In love. I don’t think I implied that they were.

I did not say you implied anything about William and Kate and their love for each other. I do just find it implausible that William and Kate are telling each other to now pat each other on the backside in public for PR purposes, but maybe I’m naive!

Perhaps not pat each other on their behind, but I do think they’ve either been told or have decided for themselves (or both) to step up the PDA. It’s all speculation anyway. For years they were hands off, so why now? JMHO.

Why now? Since I don’t run in their social circles, I can’t ask them that question, but maybe some hard hitting jounalist will get to the bottom of it!

And yes, it’s all speculation, but that’s part of what is keeping us all interested in this!

I rather agree with @sevmom, that the “butt pat” likely has more to do with the Queen 's recent death than a sudden attempt to appear more affectionate in public. Maybe they’ve wanted to do things like that all along but were not willing to break protocol re PDAs? It doesn’t strike me as contrived, but of course I don’t know, and don’t follow them closely enough to know if/when they started behaving differently in public. Certainly lots of things have and will continue to change now that the Queen is gone.

I agree that QE death probably has contributed to it.

Ah, but the point is that they DO comment. They just don’t do it directly. If Willy responded directly he might be asked if it’s true that he took a swipe at his brother. If he refused to answer, it could make people think it is true. But by having someone else say how hurt and angry he is, he gets that across without having to answer any questions. Some of the royals are getting direct quotations out there–Camilla is one of them.

I posted my reply to the wrong response.
The fact is that all the royals are getting their hurt feelings out there without having to respond to the charges. In some cases there are direct quotes from the royals.

I don’t believe for a nanosecond that the royals aren’t talking to journalists about this.

There are many online photos of them, predating M&H, enjoying moments of PDA. I think that most importantly, when they are attending events such as BAFTAs, they are working, and so should present a working image. They can get down and dirty once the front door is closed behind them!

Finally had a chance to watch the South Park episode and it was spot on and hilarious! :joy:

How do you know it is them if the quotes aren’t attributed to them?

I really think William and Catherine have better things to do than read the rags. They have 3 kids, they have numerous homes, her family, his family. I just don’t think they care that much. William was mad, now he’s working. H&M have to get to the same level of not caring.

I don’t know for a fact; I just surmise or deduce or…
Let me give an example. I googled Camilla and tried to find a publication that published lots of very positive articles about her. I found a site called Hello! magazine.I’m not sure but I think there’s both a print version and an online version . Its coverage of her is extensive and it is extraordinarily positive. It reported that Camilla was “gobsmacked” by William’s accusations that she had used the press against him and MM.

Camilla started a book club. It has been in existence for 2 years and is now a registered charity. Camilla invited a large-ish but not huge group of writers to a private ceremony to celebrate this book club, which is now called the Queen’'s Book Club. She gave a speech. Clips of the speech, which appear to have been taken with a handheld phone from about 5 feet away, appear in Hello!. The clips include the FIRST time Camilla referred to Charles in public as “His Majesty.” He and the crowd tittered. It included Camilla’s thoughts about censoring Roald Dahl’s books. This was a private party in the sense that it wasn’t open to the press generally.

Hello! says something like "a guest at the party shared the video she took with us.’

I assume that Camilla was aware that her speech was being filmed by a guest who must have been standing almost directly in front of her. I also assume that the recording was done with her express permission. I assume that she was aware that Hello! would post the clips on its website.

I assume that Camilla knew about the prior story in which Hello! reported that some source or other said she was “gobsmacked” by Harry’s attack and that she wasn’t upset by it. I am so cynical to think that she approves of the article.

Hello! also got an exclusive interview with Camilla as to what she and the King ended up doing on Valentine’s Day. (Initially they were supposed to be apart on that day, but she got Covid.)

Her son, a food critic, and her daughter also get extensive coverage.

So call me cynical but I assume that Camilla does cooperate with Hello! and that it gave her the opportunity she had no idea that Harry thought she used the press without actually being directly quoted or answering any questions.

As for WIlliam, I assume that for him at this point it’s largely about the coronation. He wants a big role in it and he doesn’t want Harry there sharing the limelight or stealing his thunder. But again, I assume. I don’t know for a fact.

And believe it or not, I really don’t care. I just see stuff out there that makes me think Harry’s complaints may have some basis in fact.

This is why I thought H&M had a perfect out - not sure why it went so sideways.

“All of which makes Markle…a true Black History icon”

Yeah - I don’t agree with the author’s conclusion, but I thought she brought up some interesting points.

South Park says it all. The definitive analysis of those two. Cuts through all the BS and tells it like it is. Accurate and funny at the same time. Priceless.

So now everyone thinks that the SouthPark episode was brilliant and accurate. Well, at least now I what type of media the H & M haters find credible .
No wonder you’re all so starry eyed about Willy and Kate and of course the King & Queen (consort). Love stories for the ages!

The South Park episode is hilarious because it’s true.
