does everyone instate get offered cap?

like if u apply by the deadline? if not then what percentage of texas residents get into cap? thanks

If you don’t apply by the deadline, December 1st, then you don’t get anything. Not even CAP. Most kids get CAP because there are SO many that apply. This year was apparently a record for the applicants, especially because OOS kids who apply are very smart and get in. It really depends on what school you want to study in, like College of Communications, Cockrell Engineering, School of Social Work, etc. You admittance is based on the pool of applicants FOR that SPECIFIC school. I wouldn’t suggest going into it wanting CAP, you want UT Austin. But if you’re going for a super competitive school like business or engineering, then base it on CAP (although you’re not guaranteed a spot if you switch to UT Austin the next year).

Hope that helped!

thanks, so if u apply by dec 1, you’re pretty much guaranteed cap if you dont get in?

Ummm, I’m not 100% sure, but from what I see on this site and others, yes.

You are not guaranteed CAP. I know people at my school who were completely denied.

thanks. sdremely, do u know what their their stats were, the people who were completely denied?

@sdremely Where the hell do you go to school? They didn’t even get into UTEP?! That’s just sad, I know really dumb kids at my school and they got into CAP…

It’s weird because the person I know who got denied was actually pretty smart-he’s above me in rank, although I believe his SAT was lower. He was in top 10 but not top 8. SAT around 1800? It was pretty odd. Then a few other people were quite a bit lower than that. Y’know, no honors classes, no ECs, etc. I go to a small private school, though, so maybe they didn’t want to let in too big of a percentage from my tiny school? No clue. There were 4-5 kids at my school who did get the CAP program, though. And 2 were let in non-auto admit (myself included) while there were like 7 who got in automatically.
