I applied to penn state but got an email saying from penn state saying this as they needed my test scores quickly.

Dan,

We received your test scores from your school counselor. Thank you for working on this so quickly! Your June scores were higher so we will use these. You will have a letter in two weeks. Please be sure to follow the housing instructions provided in the letter. Housing fills quickly at many of our campuses.

I want to know what does this mean? Will I get an admission decision or acceptance if they will send me housing instructions or do they send it to everyone even rejected people.

I emailed back asking if it will include an admission decision also and she said

Dan, I suspect everything but that is all I can say. Cathy

Does anyone think i have got it in based on this email i have lower averages then the average GPA and SAT.

It sure sounds like you got in. There's no need to provide housing forms for people who definitely won't be living there. Congratulations, I think.

Dan, did you apply to main campus as well as a second choice? Because it's also possible that you were admitted to the second choice and that's why they're sending housing forms.

From what I've seen, they haven't sent out anything besides acceptances so far, aside from the initial cut of students on the very very low end.

Looks like you're in, at least from what I can see.

As I remember, a set of forms were sent home. I believe they were sent with the acceptance letter. The housing form was one of those fill in the bubble forms. Then you had to send it back with the acceptance card and $300. $100 for the enrollment fee, $100 as a housing deposit, and $100 for a general deposit. (see http://www.psu.edu/bulletins/bluebook/intro/gi-053.htm) Since all freshmen have to live on campus, you will get on campus housing. However, the sooner you send in your paperwork the better your chances of getting the housing area you desire and no supplemental.

Instructions must be different this year...DD's acceptance letter just states that "Residence Communities brochure explains housing and dining options." and there's no form to fill out.

The housing brochure says that "approximately five to ten days after you send your Acceptance Letter and fees, your contract will be available through Penn State's eLiving Housing Contract System...." and that ..."All contracts must be submitted through eLiving."

Unfortunately, there's no instructions on how to access eLiving if you're a new Penn State student. You need your PSU ID number (which is on the acceptance letter) and a password but there's no instructions on how to get a password.

Check for DD was sent about 1 1/2 weeks ago and still hasn't been cashed. I assume therefore it's still too early for us to access eLiving. I'm hoping they'll send an email or something on how to get the password. If I find out, I'll post again.

Springfieldmom: D received similar instructions with her acceptance package. I phoned the residential life department yesterday relating to the questions I raised on that "deposit" thread that I started. When I asked when the eLiving online form would be available, the representative told me that D would receive an email from the university about it in around 10 days from when they receive and process her acceptance. So have your D keep checking her email, and if in doubt, better to phone today for your own peace of mind--especially with the weekend coming up. Hope this helps.

sax:
i dont want to call them as i don't think Cathy the person who emailed me from penn state should have told me that and don't want to get her in trouble. I asked my college guidance counselor and she said it don't mean i got in just that they are sending me it and that i shouldn't get my hopes up and should stay neutral.

btw on the site it says they have reached a decision regarding my application and will get it in 2 weeks just like cathy from penn state said in email. So i know forsure i will have a decision in the mail in 2 weeks and it will have housing instructions so does that mean i have to have been accepted or could they send it to rejects.
