Does extra time help on the SAT

I have 100% extra time on my sat. How much does it help?

It will probably help you since you will have more time to answer each question. We do not know exactly how much it will help you; the only way to determine this would be for you to take a practice test without extra time and one with extra time.

Yes I’d say the extra time would help anyone.

It definitely helps. Extra time is supposed to put students on a level playing field. I’ve worked with dozens of students with extra time who still wind up running out of time. That said, you should score higher, particularly on the reading section, with the added time.

I personally recommend ACT for students with extra time. If you have time to take both tests without rushing your prep, that’s the best option. If you have to pick a test, the ACT is essentially 50% reading comprehension because the science section is more reading comp than science knowledge. The extra time is a huge help on the reading and science sections because all of the answers are in the text for you to find. English and math require you to know the material. Extra time can certainly help, but it probably won’t help as drastically as on the reading comp sections. The SAT is only 25% reading comp in comparison.
