Does financial aid cap increases for double majoring

Okay, so my brothers are 3rd year seniors at a UCI (took comm. college classes during high school)
would it be possible to stay another year WHILE STILL RECEIVING FINANCIAL AID (could double major increase financial aid unit cap?)
They have an EFC of zero, so I was wondering if its possible to stay another year in college
(to double major/improve GPA)

thanks

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you can receive federal financial aid for up to four years, regardless of how many credits you have. The vast majority of colleges also go by four years, but occasionally aid will be capped at x amount of credits instead of x amount of years. Send UCI an email or call them to make sure.

Yeah I believe you get aid for four years or until you complete your Bachelor’s - whichever is first.

Federal aid is available for six years for undergraduate; state and institutional aid varies. As long as they don’t receive a bachelor’s during that time, they can receive more aid.
