does financial need affect decisions?

I was just wondering if the admissions officers would reject a candidate if he/she could not afford to pay a lot. I know the UCs asked what your parents income is. Considering the state of the economy and of California's crisis, would they reject people with very low incomes?

yes, unless they're need-blind

The UC's are need blind so you will not be rejected based on income. They don't give great aid though, so affording them for some is an issue.

alright thanks a lot

Not for admissions, but the budget crisis will surely affect the scholarships and grant money given to those admitted and demonstrate need. You're pretty much on your own after getting the admit letter.
