Does first semester gpa affect spring rush?

If I did well first semester, would that potentially help me?

I would think so. Succeeding academically in college is generally easier in high school than it is in college.

Absolutely. Your GPA after a semester is more important than your entire high school GPA. Most fraternities/sororities won’t bid you on GPA alone, but if you have a good one it makes it much likelier to have a successful rush.

Greek organizations usually have standards. If your GPA doesn’t meet them then the only way you will get a bid is likely if you are a legacy or know a large number of the chapter

How would they know I did well without me telling them though?

They can ask their advisor to do a grade check on people they want to join their GLO. There might be a space on the rush application as well (if your school does those).

At our school you have to apply to IFC in order to Rush. This takes like 10 seconds and includes name, hometown, hobbies, GPA, etc. I’m sure they check the accuracy of this but you have to have a certain grade level (I want to say 2.8) in order to rush
