Please give as much detail as possible if you can! :) Thanks!

Yes, very good but very competitive. Previously, you applied to FSU, and then later applied to the limited access nursing major. It was competitive, and many spent two years at FSU, only to not be accepted into nursing.

Starting fall 2011 all that changes. One will apply BOTH to FSU for freshman admission and to the College of Nursing for nursing school acceptance. Only those accepted to CON will be able to pursue a nursing degree at FSU, although I am guessing there may be a limited number of lateral admissions for those with an AA.

Applications are due Oct 31 for priority consideration, and given how competitive admission is to nursing at FSU, I suggest this be done by the early deadline, as applications after this are SPACE AVAILABLE ONLY.

No one can tell you what it takes to get in as a Freshman as they have never done this before.

GOOD LUCK.

well I guess it is a positive thing that they let you know before spending two years at florida and then not getting acceptance into your major! I already applied early action to the university and plan to apply priority to the nursing program as well. I’ll be very lucky if I manage to get in, seeing as it is already competitive and I am also out of state.

Thank you!

It’s not easy. Mrs. P2N is a graduate and it was tough to enter the CoN decades ago and a lot of hard work.

It is an excellent program.

I just found out I got accepted into the College of Nursing at FSU several hours ago!! You cannot understand how excited I am! I thought for sure I wasn’t going to get in. For reference, I have a 3.9 GPA the way FSU weights it and I got a 29 on my ACT. But I figure my strength in high level math and science courses helped me a great deal.

Congratulations! Welcome to the Tribe! :)

I was also accepted to nursing. I have a 3.92 fsu gpa and a 28 act with ap enviromental,ap bio, honors bio, chem honors and aice marine. So 5 units of sciences, 5 units of math and 6 units of english mostly aice and ap. They seemed to be very interested in those particular classes. Im taking ap psychology and ap stats right now which is part of the fresh/soph curriculum. When I called them in November they told me that they expected 900 applicants for 100 ish spots.

The only thing that you should be aware of is that you will be doing your clinicals at the local hospital and there is very little there with regard to neo-natal if that is something that you plan on specializing in. Its not a huge drawback but its something I found out when speaking with them.

TMH is a regional Level II Trauma Center and handles all but the most complicated NICU patients. I really doubt undergraduate nursing students will be placed into critical care situations, so I don’t know what you mean by writing there is “very little” in neonatal care to learn about.

I didnt say there was very little to learn. I reiterated what the nursing advisor told me. Im sure you understand this more than I do as your wife is in nursing. My sister just transferred to that hospital so I will get the scoop.
