Does FSU wait for March 17th to announce decisions?

My Ds application status shows everything complete and "An admission decision will be available on March 17, 2010 at 12:00 AM." Does FSU wait until March 17th to update the status? Should we check back sooner for a possible decision? Just curious.

It will be available at midnight early that morning and no earlier. It is frustrating, but to be honest, right up to the end they are assessing the number of students who have submitted tuition deposits and dorm deposits. They are crunching the numbers to see exactly how many acceptances they will offer. They don’t want to over-enroll. They used to have three admission dates. Now with two, it is definitely frustrating not to have been in the /early group. Good Luck.

PS, based on your screen name, if your daughter is applying for a limited access program that requires an audition, your notification may be different.

Thanks for the quick response. She did not apply directly for dance but is now reconsidering. We are discussing the possibility of attending the March auditions but because it during the week should would have to miss school. While it is for college, several of her teachers are not that supportive with her dance. I really do not think they understand the time and commitment she gives and yet still maintains a high GPA and involvement in the classroom and the school. She is so ready to move on to college life.

Do you think the fact that she applied during the second admission date will diminish her chances for acceptance? While FSU is not her “dream-reach” or 1st choice, she is very interested in the school due to its strong chemistry and dance programs. She is also interested in auditioning for the dance team.

Unfortunately, it is more competitive during the second application period. But FSU does seem to “get” the whole dance commitment thing. My D is not a dance major and does not dance on the team. But she spent YEARS in ballet, went away to intensives every summer, and spent one year of high school at a conservatory. She had strong grades, took all honors and AP, and in addition to dance was active in student government. I think the commitment to dance helped overcome SAT scores that were not stellar.

Good Luck.

There is an FSU faculty member in the musical theater area who may be very helpful with answers. As I recall her name is Michele and posts in the FSU MT forum: [Florida State University MT - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university-mt/)

I was accepted to FSU for the December decision, and there’s a possibility that the decision will be posted a bit earlier. I was waiting for a decision the entire day, and at about 7:30 or 8 on the evening before the deadline I had a decision posted. It’s possible for them to post it several hours earlier, but most people won’t get a decision until at or around 12AM.

Thanks for the information. I don’t want her to waste time checking everyday if it isn’t necessary. We will wait for March 17th. Dance competition season is here so that will help keep her mind occupied until then.

Thanks again.
