<p>All other things being equal (high GPA, SSAT above 90%, good ECs. Did well in interview and wrote equally good application essays), is there any preference given to applicants from outside the Northeast? We live on the West Coast if it makes a difference.</p>

<p>If Cali, it probably matters less to the larger East Coast schools and more to the smaller ones. Oregon or Washington would be an advantage over California, but not huge. The real geography advantages are for the severely underrepresented states like AK, IA, ND, SD…that sort of thing.</p>
