Unfortunately, I got a 2 on my AP English Language exam. -__-

Will this hurt my chances to get into a top college?

you can omit your score, i thought?
just don't screw up during the course, because that will factor into your GPA and that stays with you for life ;)

Does getting a 2 on an AP exam hurt your chances to get into a top college?

yea dude, ull never get in. maybe some community college will consider u for their waitlist.

I want to ask "how is that even possible?" but I don't want to be mean =)

AP scores are self-reported.
Pick and choose.

it doesn't hurt if the colleges don't know.
aa6590, stop being a idiot, thank you.

you don't have to let the colleges know that you got a 2...so no, it doesn't "hurt"....

First off, you don't have to report it using commonapp, but if you sent your AP scores to that college it sends all the scores, including the 2. If you did very well on your other exams and well on the English Lang course itself, the college may overlook it and think you were having an off-day or something when you took the test. Hopefully. :]

Uh.........no

Thank you everyone the answers! :)

I got a 2 on AP US Hist and a 3 on AP Chem and didn't report either (I had no other AP Scores)- I got into Columbia's Scholar program and Cornell while being waitlisted at Yale...

So I'd just not report them... :)

Nope. Also, my friend told me about somebody who got into Harvard and got a 1 on one of their Physics C APs. He was laughing about it.

So what if you do report them?
Does it still affect your chances ?

Well, I wouldn't report a 2 anyway- it doesn't get you any credit, so why bother? But if it was already sent, I wouldn't freak out too much about it. People still get accepted with 2s and 1s

I would still report it. Even though you didn't "pass" the exam according to the AP standards, colleges still like to see that you actually took the test. I mean, at least you took it, unlike some people who choose not to. You challenged yourself with the AP test, and you deserve credit!

And don't worry! You'll get into a great school! :)

what if it comes up on ur transcript
