Does getting deferred decrease chances in RD?

I keep seeing posts that say you got defered, gg… Does deferal decrease chances in RD? I thought it just meant that you would be sent to the RD pool?

For those schools that release their statistics, one can look at what the % accepted is for early apps, what the % accepted is for RD applicants and what the % accepted is for those deferred from ED or EA. If the accept % for those deferred is less than that of those accepted in the RD pool, it is likely that those deferred have a smaller chance than those who are applying the first time around as RD. If the percentages are close, then the chances are the same as applying RD. If the % accepted is higher for deferred applicants, than those deferred have a better chance than RD applicants over all. We don’t know what the reasons for the numbers are, so any given applicant be an outlier, but on average, those numbers tell the story.

^^^ is correct

Usually is less chance for RD with exceptions (Stanford being one of them).
