I am thinking about the possibility of graduating 2 (out of 3) quarters early for financial reasons (don’t have enough AP credits for a full year,) but at my school you have to fill out a form 3 quarters prior to whenever you graduate. So would they just triple my EFC for that quarter, taking away the financial benefit?
What kind of aid do you have?
If you graduate early…you won’t be in college…right? At most schools…that means you won’t get aid for that term or terms.
For example…if you have a Pell Grant and graduate after one term in an academic year…you do NOT get the full amount…you get half…for that first term.
@thumper1 It’s need-based university aid. I mean, would they make me pay more for fall quarter because they know I won’t be paying for the other two quarters? and im assuming I’d get a third of the pell?
It’s possible that FA won’t even know you are graduating. You file the graduation paperwork and the dean’s office or whoever completes that. You file for FA and the FA office will think you are attending for the entire year. You’ll have the same EFC, Pell, other FA and they’ll divide it by 3 just like they always have.
My daughter will graduate next Dec. She filed FA paperwork as attending for the year. She’ll get half her aid in the fall, and then the spring aid will never be used.
@twoinanddone Thanks for the response!
