Does having 3+, high, SATII score count toward your benefit if you already...

...have fairly high scores?

I'm a junior right now ('11, WOOT) and so far I've taken:
World History: 800
Math IIC: 800
Biology E: 770
Chinese: 800 (I know, I know, pointless, but it was a morale booster)

So obviously I'm going to be sending in the WH, MathIIC, and Bio scores in as of now.

However, this year I have a super kicka** APUSH teacher and I was wondering if I should the the SATII subect test for that as well. If I score well on that, will that be a "plus" for my application, or is it just pointless?

Schools I'm interested in are HYPS + Brown + Cornell + Dartmouth + Columbia + UC Berkeley + UCLA.

Thanks

depends on what you’re studying. you might come across as arrogant if you have no interest in history and are just doing it to impress the admins. Remember, less is more, but if you’re going in as a history major, I’d say go for it!

So basically, they look at more than 3 scores? They don’t just take the highest 3 and toss the rest?

they’ll look at them, but it’s not required to have more than said amounts.

Hmm. I was kind of thinking about what you said about appearing arrogant… shouldn’t taking multiple SATIIs just show competency? Like how taking a lot of APs show competency? I don’t see how taking a lot of APs is being arrogant :/

I just scratch my head at some of these comments. More high scores can only help. Focus on APs rather than SATIIs though, you may get credit for those. You will at the UCs where you may well need it to graduate in 4 years.

Agree with you about the APs>SATIIs, hmom, since I already have my 3 required SATIIs.

I was thinking of taking the APUSH SATII as an afterthought though… I probably won’t study for it; I would have already studied enough prepping for the AP USH test. So basically I was wondering if paying the $40 would be worth it.
