Does having a book helps impresses colleges?

I was wondering that if we have a published book about our topic of interest ( but it hasn’t been sold yet ) that we write ourselves, can be added to college app activities?

has it been professionally proofread? Are you submitting it as a supplement?

Yea it would be a supplement for the application. Would it be a good idea?

You need to give more information. If you self-published, and no one has bought it, maybe not. Is it a book you could provide a link to, so that an admissions officer could see that it’s a legitimate book? There is no point submitting a whole book as a supplement. No one is going to read it.

I get the sense you aren’t a native English speaker. Is it a foreign book? Does it have documented sales? Submitting a book just to show you wrote one is worthy, but I’m not sure how impressed an admissions officer will be if it’s just a book you wrote with no sales, or publisher, etc…

To paraphrase Tonto: “What do you mean “we” kemosabe?” We are not applying to college.

Anyway, @Lindagaf is correct; I can write a book over the weekend and self-publish it next week, but nobody will be, as you say, “impressed.” If it’s been published by a legitimate publisher, and (even better) critically reviewed, then it’s certainly worth listing on the application.

Will having a book published by a reputable publisher make up for shortfalls elsewhere in the application, e.g. an 89 TOEFL? No.

Sorry, for the ‘We’ part, looks like I have heard JFK’s moon speech more than enough

Understood, what you are saying @skieurope
