My father is a professor right now and was offered a job at a university I will be applying for in the future. If my father accepts the position, will it be easier for me to get accepted there?

Why not ? It certainly would be helpful . You could ask your HS counselor.

Huge factor – dependent on how high the position your dad is considering. If he’s a coveted prof, being lured by many schools, you can bet favorable consideration for kids would come into the job negotiations.

Yes. It’s much easier to get in, and for many institutions the kid doesn’t have to pay tuition.

I would say YES.

Is the answer still the same if the schools that he is considering are Harvard and Northwestern?

Why aren’t you talking to him about this? He is going to know a thing or two about it.

^He wasn’t entirely sure, so I just wanted to check.

I imagine, assuming your competitive, that it could be a big plus. I don’t think it will hurt.

Read the book price of admission as it discusses this

Kid I know at Harvard says Some of his classmates are children of Harvard professors. At minimum, it will place your application in a different pile. I definitely would want my father to take position at a college I wanted to attend.
