Does having a relative that works at UPenn help?

So I'm considering Wharton/CAS (I want to dual enroll but not through the Huntsman program because I'm not interested in majoring in International Business - more like poli sci or anthropology) and I don't know how much the fact that my step-dad works there as a cop contributes to my potential acceptance. I've been told they feel more inclined since I'm from a working-class family and they want to create more socioeconomic diversity among their student body, and if I went elsewhere, they would have to pay another school 16k a year for me to go there. (I also have Asperger's, but am unsure if I should mention that or if it would help me be admitted.)

Thank you to anyone who responds to this! I greatly appreciate any insight!

Are you a Philadelphia resident? If so that may work in your favor. Penn makes it a point to show commitment to the local community in its policies, including acceptance of Philadelphia students. That your Dad works in a non-academic position at Penn probably has no influence on your chances. You should talk to your high school counselor about how to best handle the Asperger issue. If he suggests that it may help to mention it, he probably should be the one who does that.

No, we live in South Jersey, though originally we’re from Philadelphia and it’s definitely a big part of my life and I plan to mention that in my essays. But thank you for your insight!
