Bloomy… good to know, that they can create a tentative schedule online? I need to review this with my son so we have SOME clue as to what he’ll be taking.

Good question about credits. I’m really concerned about him overloading himself and not being able to do it. He’s an “eyes are bigger than his stomach” kind of kid with everything. (typical ADHD)

To piggyback on what FC said, a lot of students find that even though the classes get more challenging as they progress, as they get deeper into their major, they are taking classes that interest them more and tend to do better.

Absolutely - plus by then they have usually learned how to maximize their study habits, how to write better papers, and of course just generally adapted to being on their own, for the most part.

In the end, there are basically those two camps of students, and it just depends on which your student falls into. Either they are really ready for college work and college life from the first moment, in which case more hours are usually no problem at all, or they are looking at a fairly major adjustment, in which case a lighter load is usually more beneficial. Sometimes they know where they are likely to fall going in, sometimes they don’t know until they are immersed in the total environment.

So that hasn’t changed. It is probably the easiest dorm for them to clean between groups (hall bath as opposed to suites) as well as being right across from Bruff.

Hi OH - Wow, Hubbys first trip to NO. Maybe keep him in uptown/mag st for his first trip, :).

We will be there also, from the ATL, with our DD…

All of us parents should plan a meet up, because I believe all the kids will be at the Boot, lol. We can get together and share all the stories about the classes they registered for.

…and plan our first football tailgates in the new stadium.

We are HERE… Staying at the Park View Guest House which is lovely and right across the street from Tulane. Walked to the Camellia Grill for lunch which never disappoints. The weather is a little funky… sunny one minute, pouring the next. But not terribly uncomfortable…lovely breeze.

Just chilling out now but will head down to the FQ a little later to walk around and figure out where to go for dinner. He wants a beignet sooner rather than later, so we’ll probably start out at the Cafe du Monde and work our way around town from there.

Orientation starts Friday, so we have some time to sit down and go through his draft schedule.

So he finally worked on his draft schedule using My Planner. But he said that most of the TIDES classes are full already? He still found one he liked, but that was surprising.

I know he can’t actually register yet but it also said he can’t register because of an immunization form. He faxed that over a week ago. I hope we aren’t going to have a problem on Saturday when they do the actual registration activity, because we didn’t bring the hard copy.

First screw-up of the day! I thought the schedule said “Sign-In and Orientation: 10am-1:15pm” meaning we sign in and go to orientation AT 10. WRONG. We’re signed in, he dropped off his bag, and now we go BACK at 1:15 for orientation.

DOH! Thankfully we could just come back over to the Park View and hang out in the A/C until 1. This is what happens when only one set of eyes is reading things…

Hi Matvitale. Is there any reason to show up in the morning if the actual orientation is at 1:15? What time would you suggest? Can you eat lunch on campus if you come around 12?
I’m about to start packing. Is it super hot?
