I was assigned to a second-floor, regular single room in Hill House. The website says that my room will have a desk with chair, bed frame and matress, and a dresser. But do I get a closet? I know it's still early, but I don't want to have to drag over a portable closet from home.

I believe that each room comes with either a closet or a free standing wardrobe for hanging.

It’s its own closet.

But in all seriousness I think it does.

Yes it comes with a closet. The closet is about 3 feet wide and runs floor to ceiling. Since my roommate and I both had a decent amount of hanging clothing, we got a little $10 attachment off of eBay that added a second clothing bar… super worthwhile.

The closets actually hold a shocking amount of stuff, and you WILL learn how to effectively manage limited spaces by living in Hill!

So, on this same note I know for a fact that my room does not have a closet. How do I deal with that?

Thanks guys
But just to be sure, you say that ALL rooms in Hill have closets? (I’ll be on the second floor, single)

@bimbop How do you know for sure that your room doesn’t have a closet?

Closets are part of the floor plan. I can see on the map that I don’t have any.

There aren’t any closets in any of the Hill floor plans, but I know they exist. Try contacting someone that lives where you do.

hmmm, cause on my floor plan there are definitely closets in every single other room.

If I were you, I would trust the people who lived there more than I trust myself looking at floor plans. Hill rooms have closets. Period. They’re crappy enough that they better have SOME kind of amenity

While we’re on the topic, exactly how bad are the rooms in Hill. I’m in a single on the second floor. The dimensions are 10’10" by 9’2", which seems to be enough for one person.

Singles are the same size as doubles if I remember correctly, and yes, they are certainly big enough for one person. Actually they renovated the place in 2008 (obviously, the year AFTER I lived in it) and upgraded a lot of the building such that things work. From what I hear, the facility isn’t THAT bad anymore. … it used to be God awful.

When I visited Hill at the preview days, i remember the ceiling being really low(I’m not especially tall) and I felt like there was no air flow in the building and since it had no a/c I imagined it would be unbearable in the summer(so bring a gigantic fan!). The only positive to Hill is that the crampness fosters community and it has its own dining hall which is really convenient.

It’s really not that bad. My freshman year had some HOT days, but because the building is so large and open in the middle, a lot of the heat rises to the top of the atrium; it isn’t too hard to get some good ventilation as long as you leave your door open and have two fans.
